Sighting in Magnien, October 19, 2023

On the evening of the sighting, the only witness was behind their house to bring the chickens in. At 8:08 p.m., they saw bright round objects moving about the sky in all directions. The witness stopped watching, and when they came back a few moments later, they noticed three lights on the ground, side by side, and, slightly to the right and closer, a motionless shape resembling a luminous silhouette. The silhouette then vanished, while the three lights "passed over" the witness before disappearing as well. The witness took two photographs of these last two phenomena. Other pictures, taken later in 2023 and at the end of 2024, were later given to the investigator and show one or more of these phenomena. No other testimony reached the GEIPAN. The case's consistency was rated good: despite there being a single witness, several photographs could be used in the investigation.

The first objects, which moved in all directions and were not photographed, may have been satellites, but the lack of data prevented confirmation; they were classified C. A geographic and photographic analysis established with certainty that the three aligned lights were wind turbines about fifteen kilometres from the witness. Their persistence in the same place on photos taken at different times, along with their color and blinking, supports this; classification A. As for the luminous silhouette on the ground, its exact nature could not be determined. Everything points to a luminous object or a person with a torch, unrelated to any aerospace object, but it could not be reliably characterized; classification C.
