Haute-Vienne, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France
Sighting on March 1, 1986 in Maisonnais-sur-Tardoire (Haute-Vienne, France). GEIPAN identified the phenomenon with certainty: it was an identified cause of another kind (class A).
What happened
At around 7:30 p.m., the witness heard an unusual slapping sound outside. They found that the hood of their car had been damaged by an object that was starting to melt. They put the object in their refrigerator and then called the gendarmerie.
It was a blue, crystalline mass that smelled of detergent. The impact had been violent enough to scatter fragments across the yard, where they left blue marks on the leaves of the plants they hit.
Laboratory analysis showed that the substance was effluent from an aircraft toilet. The case was classified A: a frozen block of this kind had fallen from an aircraft onto the hood of the car.
