Sighting in Mont-Saint-Jean, March 27, 2023

Sarthe, Pays de la Loire, France

Sighting on March 27, 2023 in Mont-Saint-Jean (Sarthe, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

A witness standing outside their home noticed, between about 5:50 and 6:08 a.m., an "abnormal line of light points" in the sky. The points were white and seemed to be spaced at roughly equal distances from one another. The line moved slowly and eventually passed out of the witness's view toward the east. Only one account was collected.

When the GEIPAN contacted the witness, they said that their son had helped them identify the phenomenon, and that they had observed Starlink satellites. However, the witness declined to fill in the follow-up questionnaire the GEIPAN had sent to obtain further details. Starlink satellites travel from west to east, which does not match the direction of movement the witness gave in their statement.

Because of this lack of information, the GEIPAN classified the case as C (insufficient data).
