Insufficient data

Sighting in Moyeuvre-Grande, October 1998

Moselle, Grand Est, France

Sighting in October 1998 in Moyeuvre-Grande (Moselle, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

In October 1998, on a day the source does not specify, the witness filmed a group of lights moving across the sky. The account was only submitted to the GEIPAN much later, on 22 February 2010.

The video does not keep the original sound the witness had heard during the sighting: it was replaced with music. No other witness account was collected for this phenomenon at that date.

Neither the video nor the questionnaire could be used, and no investigation was possible. The GEIPAN concluded that the witness had observed lights moving in the sky and classified the case as C, meaning there was insufficient data.

Account rewritten by SkyUnknown from the investigation report published by GEIPAN (CNES). The original text and case documents are on the official record.
