Sighting on February 7, 2002 in Naucelle (Aveyron, France). GEIPAN considers the phenomenon probably identified (class B).

What happened

At around 8 a.m., several witnesses, independent of one another, saw an orange fireball fall very fast. The sighting lasted only one to two seconds: the ball trailed a streak behind it and quickly vanished. Witnesses in a neighbouring département also reported the same phenomenon.

Following its investigation, GEIPAN classed the case as B: the phenomenon was probably an atmospheric re-entry.
