Sighting in Névez, August 19, 2010

Finistère, Bretagne, France

Sighting on August 19, 2010 in Névez (Finistère, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

At around 10:05 p.m., a couple watched a very large orange ball move slowly and silently across the sky for about 30 seconds. It was travelling horizontally. Only one of them gave a statement to the GEIPAN, and the witness said they had filmed the scene.

This kind of sighting is reminiscent of a Thai lantern. However, the GEIPAN could not check that hypothesis: the witness did not provide the video footage and did not say which direction the object was moving in. Because of the lack of information and of cross-checking, the case is classified C.
