Sighting in Nieul-sur-l'Autise, February 26, 2011

Vendée, Pays de la Loire, France

Sighting on February 26, 2011 in Nieul-sur-l'Autise (Vendée, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

At about 7:45 p.m., the witness noticed a very bright white object in the sky that caught their attention. It moved roughly along an east-west axis, but with alternating upward and downward movements. The observation lasted three minutes. The object then followed a descending path and faded into the night. No other witness account of the phenomenon was collected.

The complex movements of the point of light gave the sighting a certain degree of strangeness. A helicopter or a military aircraft could be considered as an explanation, but the GEIPAN dealt with the case too late to check this. Because of the lack of information and the fact that there was only one testimony, the case was classified C.
