Sighting in Noeux-les-Mines, November 27, 2015

Pas-de-Calais, Hauts-de-France, France

Sighting on November 27, 2015 in Noeux-les-Mines (Pas-de-Calais, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

At around 3 p.m., a motorist driving along a local road noticed about ten white points of light, along with one dark point, moving across an overcast sky. The witness stopped to film. According to them, the points moved very fast, in every direction, and then vanished into the clouds. They heard no sound. The sighting lasted about a minute, and no other witness came forward.

The witness's video briefly shows the path of one white point, then that of a black point, against a background of grey clouds. A photograph also shows a white point. Beyond this, the information is imprecise: the witness did not give the exact location of the sighting and did not mark in the video the many events they had seen, so these could not be found in the footage.

GEIPAN found no explanation for the movements of these points of light. The possibility of birds was not ruled out. Because the available information was too limited, the case could not be analysed and was classified C.
