Sighting on August 7, 2009 in Orléans (Loiret, France). According to GEIPAN, it was most probably a sky lantern (class B).

What happened

Around 1 a.m., several people noticed two luminous phenomena, each made up of two reddish spheres. They moved without making any sound. Roughly ten people watched the scene, but only one witness came forward to give an account.

According to that description, the two phenomena followed parallel paths at a slow speed, as if hovering. One of them slowly went out.

GEIPAN classified the case as B (probably identified). In the investigation's view, the parallel trajectories, the slow movement and the gradual fading of one light point to the probable passage of Thai lanterns.
