Sighting in Parisot, July 26, 2012

Tarn, Occitanie, France

Sighting on July 26, 2012 in Parisot (Tarn, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

At around 10 p.m., around 26 July 2012, two witnesses noticed three lights passing overhead: two white ones and a blue one at the tip of a grey triangle. The whole thing crossed the sky on a straight path from south-south-west to north-north-east. Both witnesses stated that they had clearly seen a dark triangle between the points of light.

According to GEIPAN, three points of light moving in a straight line are not particularly strange, since they could be three satellites passing at the same time. The dark triangle between the points, however, makes the phenomenon more unusual. Two candidate satellites were considered, but the investigation could not clearly match either of them to the sighting. The testimony was rated as moderately consistent: the two witnesses are not independent of each other, and there is no photo or video. The date of the sighting also remains somewhat uncertain. Given these uncertainties, the case was classified C, for insufficient information.
