Cantal, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France

Sighting in April 1960 in Pierrefort (Cantal, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

The account was collected in May 2008 and concerns a much older sighting, dating from the spring of 1960 (March, April or May, with no further precision). At around 7:30 one morning, two schoolchildren were on the road when they noticed a luminous phenomenon that intrigued them. After a few minutes, it disappeared over the horizon.

The witnesses provided no further information. GEIPAN classified the case as C (insufficient data): the lack of detail and the age of the events make any investigation difficult, if not impossible. It was the observation of a luminous phenomenon, and its nature could not be determined.
