What happened

At around 11:30 pm on New Year's Eve, a witness noticed an intense red patch moving across the sky. The witness heard no particular sound as it came closer. It then changed direction abruptly and moved quickly away along a rising path.

The witness later looked at the film and photos available on the GEIPAN website and recognized that they had seen a Thai lantern pass by. GEIPAN therefore classified the case as A (identified).
