What happened

Around ten past midnight, two witnesses who were at home saw four intense, bright orange lights moving from north to south. The sighting lasted about five minutes, and no sound was heard at any point. The lights then moved off toward the west on a rising path and disappeared.

The GEIPAN classified the case as B (probably identified). The witnesses' description matches Thai lanterns perfectly, and the investigation concluded that they had most likely seen such lanterns drifting past.
