Sighting on September 6, 2009 in Poitiers (Vienne, France). According to GEIPAN, it was most probably a sky lantern (class B).

What happened

Between midnight and a quarter past, a witness at home looked out through the windows of their residence. They saw three orange glowing balls moving in a straight line, without making any noise. At one point the lights changed direction, then vanished as they rose into the sky.

No other testimony was collected about this phenomenon. According to GEIPAN, the witness's description matches Thai lanterns perfectly. The case was therefore classified B, probably identified.
