Sighting in Pont-Audemer, September 23, 1980

Eure, Normandie, France

Sighting on September 23, 1980 in Pont-Audemer (Eure, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

At 4:15 in the morning, two people on their way home from work saw a flying saucer take off from behind the village church. It climbed quickly and gave off beams of light that dazzled both witnesses. One of them saw the craft again later, above a forest.

No other witness came forward, and no trace was found behind the church. Because information on the phenomenon was lacking, GEIPAN could not offer an explanation and classified the case C (insufficient data).
