Sighting in Saint-Martin-de-Boscherville, January 12, 1989

Seine-Maritime, Normandie, France

Sighting on January 12, 1989 in Saint-Martin-de-Boscherville (Seine-Maritime, France). After investigation, GEIPAN considers this phenomenon unexplained (class D).

What happened

A woman was driving at night when she noticed, above the marshes and about 30 metres up, a cylindrical shape that she described as enormous. The top of the object carried a dome giving off a yellow light, and its base was lined with a row of glowing red and white portholes. The object made no sound at all.

As her car went past, the object went dark, then lit up again a few seconds later, much higher in the sky. The whole sighting lasted only a few seconds.

The investigation turned up no further information and could not identify the phenomenon. GEIPAN therefore classed the case as D, unexplained.
