Sighting in Reventin-Vaugris, September 14, 1985

Isère, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France

Sighting on September 14, 1985 in Reventin-Vaugris (Isère, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

At around 5 p.m., a witness noticed an object in the sky shaped like a dome, with lights inside it. They watched it for about an hour. Much later in the evening, looking through binoculars, they saw the object apparently followed by an incandescent glow.

The gendarmes and the director of an observatory also looked at the object through binoculars. Haze, however, made any observation with a telescope impossible.

No further information was gathered about the phenomenon. The GEIPAN classified the case as C, meaning there was insufficient data, and described it as a strange phenomenon at high altitude.
