Sighting in Rohaire, November 29, 2012

Eure-et-Loir, Centre-Val de Loire, France

Sighting on November 29, 2012 in Rohaire (Eure-et-Loir, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

The witness reported in 2014 an observation made two years earlier, at around 6:40 p.m. Under a cloudy sky, they saw in the distance, toward the east-southeast, an intense red and white light at low altitude. The light went through rapid, unusual movements: it rose, then descended, changed direction and split. No other witness account was collected.

The file holds very little information. The questionnaire was only partly filled in: neither the duration nor the speed was given, and only one position of the phenomenon was recorded even though a movement was mentioned. The photos the witness referred to were never provided, despite a follow-up request from GEIPAN. The two-year gap between the sighting and the report also weighs on the case.

Given this, no explanation could be offered. GEIPAN classified the case as C, insufficient data.
