Sighting in Saint-Amour, December 26, 1976

Jura, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, France

Sighting on December 26, 1976 in Saint-Amour (Jura, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

At around 8:15 p.m., two witnesses watched red and pale yellow lights for several minutes as they came in from the west. The lights moved together in arabesques while drifting slowly eastward, and they made no sound. The display took place above Mont Fevrier, fairly close to the microwave relay station. The witnesses also saw a red ball rise from the high-voltage power line, move toward the group of lights, and then vanish.

No other witness came forward, and the attendant at the Cuisseaux relay station had noticed nothing. Because the information available was insufficient, the GEIPAN classified the case as C.
