Sighting in Saint-Jean-de-Boiseau, March 24, 2013

Loire-Atlantique, Pays de la Loire, France

Sighting on March 24, 2013 in Saint-Jean-de-Boiseau (Loire-Atlantique, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

The report reached the GEIPAN in 2014 and concerned events from the previous year. Between 3 and 4 a.m., a driver noticed a small amber-yellow light hanging motionless in the black sky. The driver pointed it out to the two passengers. The light then changed shape and began moving rapidly in every direction while coming closer to the vehicle, which frightened the driver. The sighting lasted 10 to 15 minutes, after which the light disappeared.

Only one account was collected. The description conveys a sense of strangeness, as is true of every report sent to the GEIPAN. Meetings with the witness are usually what allow the GEIPAN to dispel that strangeness and find an explanation. In this case, the witness did not respond to the request for a meeting, even after a reminder. The GEIPAN therefore classified the case as C: there was not enough reliable information to reach a conclusion.
