Sighting in Salettes, June 19, 2008

Haute-Loire, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France

Sighting on June 19, 2008 in Salettes (Haute-Loire, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

Around 10:30 p.m., two people were travelling along a country road when they noticed a very bright, round yellow glow pointing toward the ground. It slowly traced circles in a clockwise direction. No particular noise was heard. The phenomenon vanished as they reached the edge of the village.

GEIPAN rated the observation as moderately to highly strange. However, it lacks substance: the information came from a simplified online questionnaire, provided by a UFO-research association, which contains few details, and no other testimony corroborated it. The case therefore could not be classified D1. Pending any further testimony or an on-site investigation, it was classified C, for insufficient data.
