Insufficient data

Sighting in Thémines, November 26, 2009

Lot, Occitanie, France

Sighting on November 26, 2009 in Thémines (Lot, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

A witness reported by telephone an observation that lasted about thirty seconds. They first noticed a "star" that appeared to grow larger, as though it was getting closer. Three points of light arranged in a triangle then passed across the sky, silently and at a steady speed. The phenomenon quickly vanished toward Figeac.

The GEIPAN noted that a "star" growing in size and three lights forming a triangle could correspond to an aircraft, since the area lies within an air corridor. However, despite follow-up requests from the GEIPAN, the witness sent in neither a questionnaire nor a report, and no further information could be gathered. Any investigation was therefore impossible, and the case was classed C because the data were insufficient.
