Sighting in Wambrechies, November 29, 2024

In the evening, between 8:30 and 9:00 pm, a witness and their friend, at home, saw two bright rectangular shapes in the sky, lined up and separated by a gap. The witness moved to get a completely clear view, and the phenomenon suddenly went out. The sky was entirely clear and there was complete silence. The sighting lasted about ten seconds, at an altitude estimated to be relatively low.

A few days later, at 7:38 pm, the witness, alone and in the same spot, saw a similar event and photographed it with a smartphone. The witness linked the two appearances.

GEIPAN rated the case as having medium strangeness and medium consistency, with a marked residual strangeness. Its image authentication system confirmed the photo as an "authentic original". The statements in the questionnaire about the first sighting were validated by the remote and field investigation. Some questions nevertheless remained, and the case was classified C: there was not enough objective information to reach a conclusion.
