Sighting in Avignon, November 12, 2012

Vaucluse, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France

Sighting on November 12, 2012 in Avignon (Vaucluse, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

A witness saw a phenomenon they did not recognise pass across the sky at 2:43 a.m. The sighting lasted about 20 seconds. The witness described it as a kind of flying car, lit with a green light and fitted with red lights at the back, moving at low altitude over the town. No other testimony was collected.

The object's path and its red and green lights suggested a helicopter. However, the witness did not mention any flashing lights or any noise. The account contained few details. GEIPAN offered the witness several times a meeting on site with an investigator, but the witness was unable to make themselves available.

Because the information was insufficient, the case was classified C: the data do not allow a conclusion.
