What happened
At about 6:25 a.m., a witness saw a blue, triangular object surrounded by bright points in a clear sky for roughly five seconds. The object was stationary, then seemed to drop suddenly and went out abruptly in the sky. No other testimony was collected.
The investigation ruled out the usual misidentifications. The sky chart showed no notable celestial body in the west that could have caused an illusion. A satellite or group of satellites was excluded, since the Calsky website listed no matching objects. At such an early hour, a drone or recreational craft seemed very unlikely. The description was very far from the look of an aircraft. Still, an aircraft could have been in the witness's field of view: with the west wind recorded at Toulouse-Blagnac, planes on approach lined up on the northwest axis of the runway, and a plane seen head-on before its turn might have looked like a cluster of lights. This hypothesis, judged too fragile and barely acceptable, was not retained because no other evidence supported it (air traffic records, photos, another witness).
GEIPAN classified the case C, for lack of cross-checking and information.
