Sighting on April 6, 2002 in Bourgogne (France). GEIPAN considers the phenomenon probably identified (class B).

What happened

Several independent witnesses in different départements saw a fireball falling very fast at around 10:45 p.m. It made no sound at all. All the witnesses said they had seen it toward the east. Witnesses in Bavaria also reported the same phenomenon.

GEIPAN classified the case as B, probably identified: the explanation adopted was an atmospheric re-entry.
