What happened
A motorist noticed a luminous phenomenon in a sky with only a few clouds, between 5:07 and 5:10 a.m. They saw four white lights in a line and two flashing lights of different colors, all through the windshield. They were driving at 110 km/h and filmed what intrigued them with a mobile phone.
The account conveys only a weak sense of strangeness and is very sparsely documented, which may be related. The video does not show an unidentified aerospace phenomenon, but it suggests that what caught the witness's attention lay ahead of them, in line with their route. The witness also described the phenomenon as moving in the same direction as they were.
GEIPAN considered that the object could have been Capella, which lies in that direction, with the row of lights and the colored twinkling possibly produced by the optics of the windshield. The witness did not state the angular width of the row of lights, nor whether the perceived movement came from an actual angular change or from the impression of a path parallel to their own, which is common with a star that is not recognized as one. A row of lights seen through a windshield can have many causes, such as the scattered light of a star or an aircraft, or the reflection of an object inside the vehicle. Because of this lack of detail, the case was classified C: the observation is of low strangeness and unusable for lack of information.
