Sighting in Cos, April 2, 1977

Ariège, Occitanie, France

Sighting on April 2, 1977 in Cos (Ariège, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

Between 7:15 and 7:30 p.m., several people travelling in a vehicle noticed a luminous cloud in the sky, which caught their attention. They then saw an elongated glow slowly break away from the cloud and continue along a straight path. The witnesses had pulled over to the side of the road and heard no particular noise. The glow eventually vanished into a mass of clouds.

No other witness account was gathered about this phenomenon. GEIPAN classified the case as C, because of insufficient information: it was the observation of a luminous phenomenon whose nature could not be determined.
