Sighting in Villeneuve-Tolosane, July 9, 2015
Haute-Garonne, Occitanie, France
Sighting on July 9, 2015 in Villeneuve-Tolosane (Haute-Garonne, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).
What happened
A witness was in their garden at around 5:30 p.m. when they noticed a white spherical object hanging motionless in the air. The sphere then moved forward, backward, to the right and to the left. Finally it shot off very quickly along a straight upward path and vanished into the sky. The observation lasted about three minutes, and no sound was heard. Only one witness account exists.
On reading the report, the GEIPAN considered a child's balloon, first held on a string and pushed around by the wind or guided by whoever held it, then let go, deliberately or not. This rather unusual explanation could fit what was seen, but it could not be strengthened for lack of photos, video or other testimony. The Météociel record shows a steady north-westerly wind at Blagnac. Despite this reasonable hypothesis, the GEIPAN classified the case as C, because of insufficient information and cross-checking.
