Sighting in Domène, January 5, 1976

Isère, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France

Sighting on January 5, 1976 in Domène (Isère, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

After an article appeared in the local press (it is not in the GEIPAN archives), several people went to the gendarmerie to report what they had seen during January 1976. The first sighting is dated to the 5th. Each witness had seen a distinctive luminous phenomenon or object on a different day, at a different time and in a different place.

One of them said that a man stepped out of a craft that had landed on the ground and walked toward them. Frightened, the witness ran away. They added that the same encounter happened again the following day.

The statements were very brief. The gendarmerie examined the sites and found no trace or clue that could either confirm or contradict what the witnesses had said.

The case is classified C: it consists of several accounts of luminous objects prompted by a press article, and the information available is insufficient to reach a conclusion.
