What happened

Shortly after half past midnight, a witness noticed a luminous, egg-shaped object crossing the sky while dropping quickly. It was reddish-orange and had a tail trailing behind it. Its brightness was well above that of a star. The object then disappeared toward the west. No other account of the phenomenon was collected.

GEIPAN classified the case as B (probably identified): the witness most likely saw an object re-entering the atmosphere.
