Sighting in Félines, October 18, 1992

Ardèche, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France

Sighting on October 18, 1992 in Félines (Ardèche, France). GEIPAN considers the phenomenon probably identified (class B).

What happened

At around 10:00 pm, a couple driving in their car first noticed one flashing light, then two, hanging motionless in the sky at low altitude. The lights were orange, with a white light, and rotated counterclockwise. A dark shape lay beneath them. The witnesses heard no sound during the observation.

After about ten minutes, the lights moved away, travelling very slowly.

The GEIPAN classified the case as B: despite the lack of noise reported, it is very likely that the witnesses saw the lights of two hovering helicopters, which then flew off.
