What happened

In the evening, between 7:00 and 7:30 pm, several witnesses in different regions of France saw a luminous, circular phenomenon trailing a streak of light cross the sky quickly from east to west. For most observers the sighting lasted only a few seconds, and no particular sound was heard.

Based on the descriptions collected, GEIPAN concluded that these people had probably witnessed an atmospheric re-entry. The case was classified B, meaning probably identified.
