Meuse, Grand Est, France
Sighting on October 21, 1976 in Gondrecourt-le-Château (Meuse, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).
What happened
Between 6:30 and 6:45 pm, three people at two different locations noticed a very bright, red-orange ball of light. It moved slowly from the southeast toward the northwest. The sighting lasted 45 seconds, after which the phenomenon vanished abruptly.
A few minutes later, a second phenomenon, identical to the first, was seen. It appeared to follow the same path.
The GEIPAN concluded that the witnesses had observed the movement of two luminous phenomena. Because there was not enough information, the case was classified C, meaning the data are insufficient to determine what these phenomena were.
