Sighting on January 7, 1978 in Guébling (Moselle, France). After investigation, GEIPAN considers this phenomenon unexplained (class D).

What happened

At about 4:50 a.m., a witness was riding a moped when they noticed three very bright lights close to the ground. One of them, extremely powerful, broke away from the other two, came closer to the witness and followed them as far as the edge of the neighbouring village, where it disappeared. The witness heard no noise.

The investigation established that no helicopter had flown in the area that night. The phenomenon was not identified, and the GEIPAN classified the case as D (unexplained).
