Sighting on August 16, 2009 in Île-de-Bréhat (Côtes-d'Armor, France). According to GEIPAN, it was most probably a sky lantern (class B).

What happened

At about 10:30 p.m., two people out for a walk noticed two very bright objects hanging motionless in the sky. The sighting lasted around four minutes. The objects then moved off without making any noise, while their brightness gradually faded. In the end they disappeared, hidden by mist.

GEIPAN classified the case as B, probably identified. The description given by one of the witnesses and the photographs taken at the time clearly point, according to the investigation, to a probable sighting of Thai lanterns, also known as sky lanterns.
