Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France

Sighting on April 27, 1984, exact location not given (département: Isère, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

Several witnesses saw a very bright, triangular object above two communes in the Isère department. It stayed motionless in the sky, and the reported length of the sighting ranged from fifteen minutes to one hour thirty-five minutes, depending on the witness.

Two of them watched it rise and gradually vanish after thick smoke appeared.

No other information was gathered about the phenomenon. GEIPAN therefore classified the case as C, insufficient data: the investigation could establish only that it was a luminous object in the sky, with nothing more specific.
