Sighting in Jeumont, January 1979

Nord, Hauts-de-France, France

Sighting in January 1979 in Jeumont (Nord, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

A witness was at their surveillance post in a factory when a luminous phenomenon in the sky caught their attention. The sighting lasted about a quarter of an hour, between 9:55 pm and 10:10 pm. They first saw a milky-white glow shaped like an arc, followed by a green ball with a red dot at its centre, which moved around in various ways. They heard no noise.

The same witness, together with two other firefighters, had already seen a luminous phenomenon earlier that year. No other testimony could be gathered about the 25 March event.

GEIPAN described the event as the observation of a small, silent ball of light. Because there was too little information on the case, it was classified C, insufficient data.
