Sighting on September 26, 1990 in Thiant (Nord, France). After investigation, GEIPAN considers this phenomenon unexplained (class D).

What happened

At around 5 p.m., a witness who was watching television noticed through the window a luminous ball heading toward the house. Frightened, the witness called two neighbours, who also saw the phenomenon, bringing the number of witnesses to three.

The ball first climbed, then came back down and stayed in place above a tree. At that point it became extremely bright, lighting up the whole area and dazzling the witnesses. The entire observation lasted five to six minutes.

The GEIPAN investigation could not provide any explanation for the phenomenon. The case is classified D (unexplained).
