Sighting in L'Île-d'Olonne, 1990

Vendée, Pays de la Loire, France

Sighting in 1990 in L'Île-d'Olonne (Vendée, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

In 2008, the witness described something they had seen one summer sometime between 1990 and 1993; the exact date is unknown. One evening around 11 p.m., they were about to camp in the garden with a friend. From the entrance of the tent, at about ten years old, they saw three white lights appear in a clear sky, marking out a large, opaque, triangular shape.

The phenomenon crossed the sky above the town centre silently, very slowly and in a straight line. The sighting was brief. The witness had the impression that the large triangle was made up of several smaller triangles formed by other lights. They were frightened. Their friend did not have time to see the phenomenon.

This was the only account collected. GEIPAN could not make use of it: the sighting was made by a child and reported eighteen years later, with no precise date, not even the year. It was therefore impossible to search the database for nearby reports by place or date. The case was classified C, for lack of sufficient information.
