Sighting in La Petite-Verrière, September 7, 2015

Saône-et-Loire, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, France

Sighting on September 7, 2015 in La Petite-Verrière (Saône-et-Loire, France). GEIPAN identified the phenomenon with certainty: it was one or more satellites (class A).

What happened

At about 9:43 p.m., a witness saw two brief flashes in a clear sky, a few seconds apart. This was the only account collected for the case.

The GEIPAN rated the observation as moderately strange, but consistent enough to merit study. Further research showed it was a misidentification of a satellite reflection phenomenon. A satellite was identified as the very probable source: Globalstar 56. Its trajectory and timing fit the witness's description perfectly. The case was therefore classified A (identified).
