Sighting in Le Vaudreuil, April 5, 1978

Eure, Normandie, France

Sighting on April 5, 1978 in Le Vaudreuil (Eure, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

At around 2:45 a.m., a factory night watchman looked up at the sky above a state-owned forest and saw a white ball at high altitude. The witness saw it five times. Its apparent size varied, and it moved very fast. It then gradually faded from view in the sky.

No other witness came forward, and no further information about the phenomenon was gathered. With too little data to work with, the GEIPAN offered no explanation and classified the case as C (insufficient data).
