Sighting in Locminé, October 19, 1976
Morbihan, Bretagne, France
Sighting on October 19, 1976 in Locminé (Morbihan, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).
What happened
At around 11:40 pm, a family traveling by car noticed an unusual object in the sky, with a beam of light at each end. The object directed lights toward the ground. It then switched off its beams, climbed, and disappeared toward the east.
Someone living in the valley where the sighting took place noticed interference on their television set at about 11:30 pm, though they did not see anything themselves.
The investigation contacted several services: the weather service, the radar service, EDF, and the nearby sewage treatment and rendering plants, which operate day and night. None of them provided any information that could support a hypothesis. GEIPAN concluded that the witnesses had observed a craft emitting lights toward the ground, and classified the case C, meaning insufficient data.
