Sighting in Lonrai, February 2, 2012

Orne, Normandie, France

Sighting on February 2, 2012 in Lonrai (Orne, France). According to GEIPAN, it was most probably an aircraft (plane, helicopter…) (class B).

What happened

At 12:45 a.m., several people were intrigued by a loud, dull noise. It seemed to come from a dark mass with no lights at all, moving slowly through the sky at low altitude.

The investigation found that the main testimony matched the sighting of a fairly conventional motorised flying machine that was not lit. It may have been an unauthorised flight, for example an airship, a microlight or possibly a helicopter, or else a military exercise.

GEIPAN classified the case as B: the witnesses had probably observed an unlit aircraft.
