Jura, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, France

Sighting on July 8, 1993 in Lons-le-Saunier (Jura, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

Around midnight, a taxi driver and their passenger, who were coming back from the train station, saw red points of light through the windscreen. The driver stopped the car and got out, but the lights were no longer visible. A loud, shrill noise could be heard, however, moving away toward the south.

Two people living in the surrounding area also said they had heard a shrill noise pass by quickly. They added that the dogs had panicked for no apparent reason.

No other information could be gathered during the investigation. The GEIPAN classified the case as C, meaning the data were insufficient to offer an explanation.
