Sighting in Lyon, December 19, 2019

Rhône, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France

Sighting on December 19, 2019 in Lyon (Rhône, France). According to GEIPAN, it was most probably a reflection or photographic artefact (class B).

What happened

At around 12:30 a.m., a witness decided to watch the sky from their balcony and take photos with their mobile phone. Between two shots, they noticed three fluorescent green points of light arranged in a triangle. The witness later sent the GEIPAN photos and a video of what they had seen.

This was the only account collected. The GEIPAN rated the case as having good consistency, since there was one witness along with photos and a video. The investigation concluded that this was probably a misidentification: the video shows an optical reflection, which most likely accounts for the three lights. The case was classified B (probably identified).
