What happened

At about 11 a.m., several witnesses noticed a flying object moving slowly toward the sea. It was grey and cylindrical, and appeared to be roughly 4 metres long. It made no noise as it passed.

The investigation established that it was an advertising balloon. Children had launched it from the terrace of the "Le Corbusier" building, about 300 metres from where it was observed. GEIPAN classified the case as A (identified): the witnesses had seen an advertising balloon in flight.
