Sighting in Monein, June 12, 2007

Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France

Sighting on June 12, 2007 in Monein (Pyrénées-Atlantiques, France). GEIPAN considers the phenomenon probably identified (class B).

What happened

Two witnesses were at home at about 10:30 pm when a deafening noise went on for roughly ten minutes. They looked out of the windows but could see nothing.

At exactly 12:08 am, the same rumbling returned. One of the witnesses then saw, for about five seconds, a gray triangular object with colored lights. It was flying very low and following a definite direction. It moved out of the witness's sight, and the noise faded away gradually.

The investigation found that several Transal flights had taken place in the area during the night of 12 to 13 June. The witness's description supports the idea of an aircraft sighting, so the case was classed B: the observation was probably of a Transal-type aircraft.
