What happened

Between 6 and 7 p.m., several witnesses in the Moselle area saw a luminous phenomenon in the sky for a few seconds. It was an orange ball that looked about as big as a football. It crossed the sky without making any sound and left a long colored trail behind it.

Following its investigation, GEIPAN classified the case as B (probably identified): the sighting was most likely an atmospheric re-entry.
