Sighting in Naves, November 19, 2009

Nord, Hauts-de-France, France

Sighting on November 19, 2009 in Naves (Nord, France). GEIPAN could not reach a conclusion for lack of sufficient information (class C).

What happened

From their home, a witness watched a light phenomenon for about ten minutes and could not explain it. The light was a very bright yellow and cylindrical in shape. It first stayed motionless, then moved slowly in a straight line close to the horizon.

GEIPAN rated the case as having low strangeness and medium reliability: there was only one witness and the date is uncertain, but the documents the witness supplied were very precise. The account was only sent in nearly four years after the event, a delay too long to allow any investigation on the ground. The possibility that the witness mistook a headlight or a spotlight mounted on a vehicle, presumably a land vehicle, could not be formally confirmed. Because of the lack of sufficient information, the case was classified C.
